Inverclyde curling news
A touch of Disney magic reached the ice in Greenock when visitors from Disney Dream swapped the Clyde for curling.
The day began with the cruise ship making her way into Greenock before berthing at the Ocean Terminal. Nearby at the Inverclyde Leisure Waterfront, technicians were already preparing the ice for a special come-and-try curling session.
For many of the visitors this was a first experience of the sport. Coaches from local curling clubs introduced the new curlers to delivery, sweeping, balance and the spirit of the game, helping everyone settle quickly onto the ice.
A warm welcome on the Waterfront
The session brought together the Waterfront ice team, local club coaches and cruise passengers for a memorable introduction to one of Scotland’s best-loved sports. It was a lively showcase of the skill, teamwork and friendship at the heart of Inverclyde curling.
From the ship’s arrival on the Clyde to the first stones travelling down the rink, the photographs capture a special Greenock welcome and a first curling experience to remember.
